SUP VIC have been successful in applying for a Community Grant from Bayside City Council to enable us to purchase a fleet of five Naish N1SCO inflatable SUP Boards.
In a ceremony on Thursday night, SUP VIC Vice-President, Tim Patterson, received a cheque from the Mayor of Bayside, Stephen Hartney, for $3800 to go towards the purchase. The application was made by SUP VIC President Paul Harrington, with the help and support of other Warwick Lee and SUP VIC committee & general members. The remaining amount will be funded out of the clubs funds.
The fleet of five boards, plus pumps, buoys and flags will be used for our Accessible Community Program to be run over summer, allowing various community groups to come and try Stand Up Paddling, including the disadvantaged, elderly and disabled. The inflatable boards will make a great introduction to the sport, in a safe and robust manner. As many of you have experienced at the recent RPS / SUP VIC Naish Nisco Race event, the inflatables are a heap of fun, and pretty bulletproof.
SUP VIC would like to thank Bayside City Council and the Community Grants program for their support. Also a huge thank you to Paul and everyone involved in the grant application.
The boards will also be available to use at Race and event days with the primary aim of introducing new members to the club and giving access to those wishing to try out the sport we all love.
